This year, and for the next 4 years, the city on the French Riviera will be organising the biggest event in the world of triathlon: the Ironman World Championship. The crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean, the picturesque mountains of the Nice countryside and the famous palm trees on the Promenade des Anglais provide a magnificent setting for the iconic competition. The city of Nice is hosting the men's world championship this year, and it will be the turn of the women's race in 2024. The competition takes place alternately in Nice and in the city of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
Combining the sea and the mountains, Nice is a favourite city for sportsmen and women: with the Rugby World Cup, Ironman races, football matches during the Olympics and the arrival of the legendary Tour de France 2024, there will be something for everyone!

The incredible challenge of the Ironman World Championship in Nice
With three events pitting the world's best athletes against each other, the XXL triathlon is the world's most impressive contest.
To begin with, head for the Ponchettes beach for a 3.8 km swim. You then cycle 180km between the sea and the mountains: the village of Vence, Col de l’Ecre, Route de Thorenc, Clues de Gréolières… It is a magnificent route showing off the wonders of the Alpes Maritimes region. It is a treat for the eyes, but make sure it doesn't take your breath away! And lastly, a marathon on the legendary Promenade des Anglais awaits you.
